Bertie Louise McGill passed away at her home in Wewahitchka Florida on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Bertie assisted her husband as a pastor’s wife in ministry of the gospel for over 50 years. She dearly loved the Lord and was a faithful servant and desired to be a blessing to all. Throughout all her years in the ministry, her passion was teaching Sunday school and Bible study where she wanted everyone to know more about her Lord. Even in the past year, as her health continued to fail, she continued to hold a Bible study in her home with friends. Her family and friends knew her as their prayer warrior and would often call on her to pray with and for them when they needed prayer. After she and her husband retired from the full-time ministry, they owned and operated Mac’s Nursery in Kinard, FL. She loved her family and friends deeply and enjoyed any visits and time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Claude McGill, Sr. Bertie is survived by her 4 children, Lynn Barnes (Keith) Carolyn Husband, (Bruce) Iris Scurlock (Eddie), Claude McGill, Jr. (Lynn); 13 Grandchildren: Shanon Kyser(Justin), Krystal Swensen, (David), Heather Braxton (Brian), Laura Suber (Jeremy) Holly Burnett (Jordan), Taylor Husband (Claire), Travis McGill (Katie), Trent McGill (Jessica), Trey McGill (Gabe), Haley Ballard (Tyler), Tripp McGill, Blake Barnes , Brett Barnes (Crysta); 13 great-grandchildren: Tanner Kyser, Laila Suber, Landon Suber, Noelle Kyser, Emma Braxton, Ellie Braxton, Journey Burnett, Isaac Burnett, Ava Barnes, Emory Barnes, Barrett Barnes, Magnolia McGill and Emerie McGill. She is also survived by one sister Ruby Barlow and brothers, Clifford Daniels, and Doyle Daniels, Sister-in-Law, Brenda Daniels and brother-in-law, Donald Ray Vickery along with and a host of nieces and nephews. Special Friends Jason and Amy Miller and Dot Hamm.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Versie Daniels, brother F.M. Daniels and her sisters, Marie Douglas and Joyce Vickery.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Wewahitchka, FL. Visitation will begin at 2:00 C.S.T. And the Service beginning at 3:00 C.S.T. with Brian Braxton, Claude McGill, Jr., Juno Douglas officiating. Internment will follow at Cypress Creek Cemetery.
