Claudia Sue Scott, known to all as Sue, of Port St. Joe, Florida, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones in her home on Monday evening, October 5, 2026, after a short battle with cancer. She was 80 years old. She is survived by her partner of nearly 20 years, Eddie Montgomery. It didn't take long for everyone to see what a true match they were-a true love story rooted in friendship and trust. Sue has 3 daughters; Tracy Clark, Wendy Graupman, and Heidi Hudson; 2 Step sons Chris Scott (Jeanie), and Jay Scott (Kelley); 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Sue was born on September 5, 1946, in Centreville, Michigan, to Dale and Dorothy Grossman. Sue was a graduate of Centreville High School class of 1964 and that fall attended Michigan State University. Later that year, she married and began her family.
Sue was a loving and nurturing homemaker who devoted herself to raising her three daughters. When her children were school age, Sue began her career as an Optician, a profession where she thrived for over 45 years. She had the gift of meeting and educating many patient's on their own personal vision journey.
From Michigan, Sue made her way to Florida, where she continued to thrive in her career and married the late Frank John Scott in 1993. She & John eventually found their forever home in Port St. Joe, FL. Sue loved her community and her neighborhood fiercely. She embraced all her neighbors, and they become more than just neighbors, they become family. She often joked that she was blessed to have found her fourth daughter, Lisa Kelley, with whom she shared an incredible bond with.
Sue was also a longtime and active member of the Panhandle Quilters Club, where she shared her talents and friendship for many years. Throughout the community, she was known as an avid walker who would greet any and all with a smile. Her church family meant the world to her and was an active member at Windmark Beach Church for many years.
Sue will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Services will be held at Windmark Beach Church on Saturday, October 17, 2026 with visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M. Eastern Time and the funeral at 3:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Sue will be laid to rest in Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe.
