Dorcus Geneva Skinner, known affectionately as Geneva, graced this world with her presence from June 29, 1938, until her peaceful departure on Friday, August 1, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida. Born in Clearwater, Florida, Geneva was a woman who lived her life with creativity and beauty, both in her surroundings and in the hearts of those who knew her. Having spent the last fourteen years of her life as a resident of Port St. Joe, she became an integral part of the community and attended Hope Family Worship Center.
Throughout her twenty-plus years in retail, Geneva devoted herself to her career at Sears, where her warm spirit and dedication to service touched the lives of many. However, her greatest roles were those of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She shared a devoted partnership with her husband Ray Skinner for an incredible 72 years. Together, they created a nurturing and loving home that radiated warmth.
Geneva was a proud mother to her two children, Billy Ray Skinner of Mesa, Arizona, and Cheryl Craig of St. George Island, Florida. Her love extended further as she embraced her role as a grandmother to Rachael Johnson (Scott) of Cypress, Texas, and a great-grandmother to the beautiful Geneva Ray Johnson. Each of them knew her not only for her creativity and artistry but also for her boundless love and support.
An Army wife for many years, Geneva's journey took her all over the world, from Beaumont, Texas, and Macon, Georgia, to Germany. Through every place she called home, she made it a work of art, transforming spaces with her needlepoint creations, lovingly sewn garments for her granddaughter, and vibrant flower gardens. Her talent for making everything pretty made each house she touched a true home, filled with love and warmth.
Geneva is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Claude Moon and Lucille Curl Moon, and three cherished brothers, who had undoubtedly inspired her throughout her life. Their memories will forever live on in the stories shared by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Time at Hope Family Worship Center on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. She will be laid to rest privately at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Florida.
Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
