Durenda Leigh Shaw, also known as “Crickett”, went to be with the Lord at age 63 on September 12, 2023. She was born in Panama City, Florida on April 24, 1960. Though she was born in Panama City, Durenda has spent a lot of her time in Louisiana and Wewahitchka. The last 27 years of her life were spent in Fountain with her beloved husband, Bernie. Mrs. Shaw was known best for her love and passion for Mardi Gras as well as her involvement in the parades. Her pride and joy was being a bar owner. Alongside of owning the bar, Durenda was a skilled boat builder. She thoroughly enjoyed fishing and spent her free time riding motorcycles and singing her heart out at karaoke. Crickett was a great friend to many and will surely be missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice Baxter.
Durenda is survived by her father, Julian T. Williams Sr.(Rachel) of Callaway; step father, Donald B. Baxter of Wewahitchka; husband Bernie of Fountain; three children; Shane Booth (Aubrey) of Germany, Missy Shaw of Illinois, and Zachery Shaw (Lindsay) of Panama City; and four siblings, Steve Mayo of Wewahitchka, Julian Williams Jr. (Idella) of Wewahitchka, Gail Slaman of Callaway, and Brint Baxter of Wewahitchka; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Central Time on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Wewahitchka with Pastor Joey Smith officiating.
