Eunice Haddock, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Highland View, Florida on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the age of 96. Surrounded by her loving family, Eunice left this world as she lived—embraced by love and gratitude for a life richly lived.
Born on June 17, 1930, in Graceville, Florida, Eunice’s journey was rooted in the warmth of her close-knit family. She grew up in Jackson County, carrying the values and traditions of her upbringing throughout her life. In 1955, she moved to Port St. Joe, Florida, where she became a longtime member of Highland View Baptist Church—a spiritual home that nurtured her faith and generosity through the years.
Eunice was truly a loving person, an angel on earth whose selflessness defined every aspect of her life. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. As a dedicated homemaker, she devoted herself to caring for her loved ones. Eunice was happiest when the company of family filled her home, and her kitchen became the heart of every gathering. No matter the hour, she was always anxious to prepare a tasty dish or meal—a simple, daily expression of her love that will be endlessly remembered by those lucky enough to sit at her table.
Her legacy lives on in those whose lives she so lovingly nurtured. Eunice is survived by her sons Kennith Haddock (Pattie Britt) and Harlan Haddock (Donna), her daughter-in-law Gail Haddock, as well as her grandchildren Jamie Linton, Chad Haddock (Ashley), Ashley Haddock (Annette), Georgette Haddock Conklin, Sherrie Haddock, and Deanna Buchanan. Her loving memory endures through her great-grandchildren Lacey Linton Self (Austin), Savanna Haddock, Logan Haddock, Cole Haddock, Gavin Haddock, John Whitfield (Kristie), Alexis Whitfield, and Easton Buchanan, in addition to her great-great-grandchildren Mason Sheline, Morgan Self, Jace Whitfield, Sophia Whitfield, and Lily Belle Whitfield. Eunice’s spirit also touched her sister-in-law, Christine Eldridge; niece and caregiver, Gwen Allen; her lifelong best friend, Ginny Newberry; and Bascom Roberts, who was like another son to her.
She is reunited in eternity with her dear parents, H.D. and Edna Mae Eldridge, her beloved husband Eldridge Haddock, her daughter Gail Richter, her son-in-law Larry, as well as her son Thomas Haddock and precious grandchildren Eddie Haddock, Jason Richter, and Chris Horton. Eunice is also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Trinity Faith Haddock, her brothers Milton, Hilton, Hosea, and Joe Eldridge, and her sister Eunive Skipper.
Through her unwavering love, Eunice instilled in her family the values of caring, devotion, and generosity—the same values she lived every day. Her loving nature, gentle presence, and endless hospitality transformed ordinary days into treasured memories. Whether spending time with her children and grandchildren or preparing a meal for family or friends, Eunice was a steadfast source of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
To honor her extraordinary life, a visitation will be held at Highland View Baptist Church in Port St. Joe, Florida, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, followed by a funeral service, under the guidance of Pastors Mac McMillan and Glen Davis, at 3:00 p.m. at the same location. Musical offerings, personally requested by Eunice, will be beautifully shared by Mary Lou Cumbie for the service.
Serving as pall bearers will be Curtis Little, Gene Cox, Bascom Roberts, Chad Haddock, Ashley Haddock, and John Whitfield. The family would like to express special appreciation of the staff of VITAS Healthcare Hospice for the compassionate care given to Eunice in her final days.
While Eunice’s absence leaves an ache in the hearts of all who loved her, the warmth of her love and the legacy of her kindness will live on for generations. Her memory will forever be a blessing—a reminder of the power of a gentle spirit and a devoted heart.
