Gregory Howard Ohler Sr.

Gregory Howard Ohler Sr., born on February 11, 1940, in Cook County, Illinois, passed away at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 86.

Gregory, known to many as a dedicated family man and respected professional, began his journey in Chicago, Illinois. He spent his formative years in Berwyn before relocating to El Paso, Texas, during his teenage years. In 1959, Gregory moved to Hollywood, Florida, marking another significant chapter in his life. He ultimately found his home in Jackson County, Florida, where he resided for the past four decades.

Gregory established a long and successful career at National Cash Register, where he worked as a Computer Technician Repairman until his retirement. Beyond his career, Gregory was deeply passionate about mechanics. He often found fulfillment in working on various mechanical projects in his shop and took great pride in maintaining his yard, enjoying the tranquility and satisfaction of hands-on work.

Sports were another important aspect of Gregory’s life. He was an avid fan, following especially the Miami Dolphins and the Chicago White Sox 

Gregory’s greatest accomplishment—and the legacy he cherished most—was his family. He is survived by his loving children: Linda DiBartolo (John), Coreen Cummings, and Greg Ohler (Billie). His memory will also be carried forward by his grandchildren, CJ Whittington, Sam Whittington, Randy DiBartolo, Sandy Coronado, and Luke Ohler; as well as his great-grandchildren, Marcus Whittington, Sadie Lynn Coronado, Doc Whittington, and Celie Ann Coronado. 

Gregory was preceded in death by his father Edward Ohler, his mother Anne Ohler, and his beloved wife of 63 years, Cecelia Rose Ohler.

 He leaves behind a legacy of family, faith, and craftsmanship, remembered dearly by all who knew him.
