Herbert L. Burge

Herbert L. Burge 92, of Port St. Joe, Florida passed away Sunday evening, September 6, 2026 at his home after a short illness.

Born in Centralia, Illinois January 23rd, 1934, to Henry Scott and Ethel Mae (Etenburn) Burge. He was a longtime resident of Port St. Joe after serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Tyndall AFB, Florida until July 10, 1956 and then working at the local Port St. Joe Post Office until retirement after 42 years.

He was a member of the Port St. Joe Masonic Lodge 111. Additionally, he was a charter member and originally served on the board of the St. Joseph Bay Country Club.

He attended Hope Family Worship Center.

Mr. Burge was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Victor Burge, Ferrell Burge, Glen Burge, Donald Burge and one Sister, Dorothy Morrow and Niece Vicki Pawlisa Centralia, Ill.

He was survived by his Wife of 69 years Dorothy Singletary Burge; one Son Travis Burge and Wife Lynn of Port St. Joe, Fl; one Daughter Ginger Manley and Husband Mark of Port St. Joe, Fl; four Grandchildren Michael Manley of Port St. Joe, Fl.; Natalie Lyles (Brandon) of Dothan, Al.; Keith Manley (Caitlyn) of Wewahitchka, Fl.; Travis Chambers Burge (Gayla) of Wewahitchka, Fl. also eight wonderful Great Grandchildren, Isabella, Emerie, Ariana; Owen, Ellis, Nolan, Easton and Mason.; Nephew Doug Burge (Cindy) of Centralia, Il.; Niece Nonda Rostance of Odin, Il.; Great Nephew Tyler Burge of Centralia, Il.; Great Niece Tara Finckbone of Centralia, Il. And Great Great Niece Maddie Finckbone of Centralia, Il.

Services for Mr. Burge will be held under the pavilion at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Florida on Friday, September 11, 2026 with a time of visitation starting at 10:30 AM EST and a funeral following at 11:00 AM EST with Pastor Glenn Davis and Brother Dave Fernandez officiating.
