James Ray Walding, age 56, lifelong resident of Port St. Joe, Florida, and more affectionately known as “RD”, “Jimmy” or the “Pompano Whisperer”, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Port St. Joe on October 30, 1966, and worked in the construction industry as a carpenter. RD was very talented at his work and building customized projects on the side. He was an avid FSU fan and spent many hours attending NOLES’ football games and cheering on the softball team. RD was a highly skilled outdoorsman who truly loved hunting and fishing #outdoorswithrd. He was also known for his ability to shoot pool and throw darts. RD was most passionate about his loving family, many devoted friends, and Peanut, his beloved pet. “Go Noles!!” “Yeah, Yeah, YES!!”
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ross and Fennie Hudson; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Maurine Walding; sister, Shelley Walding; uncles, Benny Hudson and Ross Hudson Jr. (Mary Lou); cousins, Ross Chambers and Mark Hudson.
Jimmy is survived by his parents Ray and Marlene Walding of Eastpoint, Florida; one daughter, Mandie Pridgen (Trey) of Panama City, Florida; two brothers, Michael Walding (Shannon) of Wewahitchka, Florida and Chris Walding (Ann) of Panama City, Florida. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a loving family of devoted friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time on Wednesday, June 28th, 2023, at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Florida with Pastor Scott Shiver officiating.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023, at Comforter Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time.
