Linda Gail Adkins, 75, of Wewahitchka, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 2, 1951, in Gulf County, Florida, Linda lived a life centered on family, hard work, and kindness to others. She worked for many years at the Dixie Dandy before going to work for the J.C. Penny warehouse. Through the years, she was known as someone who loved people and never met a stranger. She was a sweet and loyal soul whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her.
Linda loved to cook good old Southern meals, and her home was a place where family could gather and feel welcome. Her greatest accomplishment was her grandchildren, and she looked forward to chauffeuring them to all of their events. She found deep joy in being part of their lives and in sharing everyday moments with the people she loved most.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Leland Adkins; one daughter, Shelly Pitts, and husband, Troy; one brother, Donald Pitts; two sisters, Sue Gaskin and Margaret Culpan; two granddaughters, Taylor Nunery and her husband, Colton, and Bailey Pitts and her spouse, Matt; two great-grandchildren, Troy Neville and Shay Nunery.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. Pitts and Viola Pickron Pitts; two brothers, James Pitts and W.C. Pitts; one sister, Joyce Melvin; and one great-grandson, Everett Nunery. She was also preceded in death by a her beloved fur baby, Little Ann.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Central Time on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Old Paths of Spirit Holiness Fellowship in Wewahitchka, Florida with Pastor Danny Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery.
Linda Gail Adkins will be remembered for her loving heart, her loyalty to her family, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her memory will continue to live on in the lives of those she loved so dearly.
