Mary Frances Bryant

Mary Frances Bryant was born on April 23, 1935, in Waycross, Georgia to Henry and Hattie Mae Davis. She was educated in Jacksonville and Orlando, Florida, and was a proud graduate of George Washington High School in Port St. Joe, Florida.

Mary met and married the love of her life, Robert C. Bryant. Together, they lovingly reared four children and created a home filled with faith, love, and devotion.

Throughout her life, Mary possessed a strong work ethic and a compassionate heart. She worked in domestic service and later became employed by the Gulf A.R.C. She found great joy in caring for and assisting individuals with special needs, treating each person with patience, kindness, and dignity.

Before relocating to Tallahassee, Florida, Mary was an active and devoted member of New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Her faith remained an important foundation throughout her life.

At the age of 91, Mary peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on August 12, 2026, in the comforting presence of her son, Scott.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Henrietta Ponder.

She leaves to cherish precious memories with her children: Paulette Davis, Harold Davis, Robert S. “Scott” Bryant, Derrick Bryant, Cheryl Rivers; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: sister: Jeanette Johnson; God daughter, Felisha Quinn; special people in her life: special cousins who’ve been by Mary and Scott’s side, Antoinette Adams and Loretta Rolle; very dear friends: Tami Redding and Mother Rogers; caring neighbors, Ken and Gloria Miller; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM EST at New Bethel A.M.E Church (146 Ave. C. Port St. Joe, Florida 32456).
