Matthew Martin

Matthew Allen Martin, 58, of Port St. Joe, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2025.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Matt was the son of David J. Martin and Mary Ann Taylor. After graduating from Warren East High School, he and his father opened and operated The Parts House in Smiths Grove, Kentucky, where Matt honed his skills as a lawnmower mechanic.

Matt then found his true calling when he joined the Bowling Green Fire Department, dedicating 23 years to serving his community with pride.

A man of adventure and laughter, found joy in learning to fly, riding motorcycles cross-country, fishing, shooting clay pigeons, and most of all, spending cherished time with family and close friends. Loyal, brave, kind, and just a little bit stubborn, Mattwas always ready with a practical joke or a good story to share.

He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, David.

Matt is survived by his loving mother, Mary Ann; his sister, Debbie (Ronnie); his girlfriend, Rhonda Keith; his beloved cat, Marinade; and many dear family members and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Matt’s life will be held onSaturday, April 12, 2025 @ 4:00 PM at the Bowling Green Fire Department Community Room 624 East 6th Avenue, Bowling Green, KY
