Norma Jane Walters, 75, of Wewahitchka, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 5:10 PM, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 13, 1951, in Port St. Joe, Florida, Norma was a proud graduate of Port St. Joe Adult School. She lived a full and blessed life centered around family, faith, and simple joys. Norma loved playing bingo, camping, soaking up the sun, hosting family poker nights, dancing by the fire, and spending cherished time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rohemey Shurrum; her sister, Linda “Faye” Buchanan; and her grandchildren, Kayla Bennett, Christopher “DJ” Peoples, and Joseph “Jojo” Peoples.
Norma is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Howard Walters; her six children, Denise Dean, Steven Peoples, Wayne Peoples, Bryan Peoples, Rohemey (Ricky) Davis, and Darrell “Bubba” Peoples; along with 24 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
Pallbearers will be Howard Walters, Steven Peoples, Wayne Peoples, Bryan Peoples, Darrell Peoples, and Greg Walters.Honorary Ricky Davis, Christopher Hysmith, Randall Peoples, Wayne Peoples Jr., Noah Peoples, Chris Hoover, and Austin Peoples.
A time of visitation will be held at Mrs. Walters' residence (337 Pine Avenue, Wewahitchka, Florida 32465) from Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. Central Time until Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 10:45 A.M. Central Time, followed by a graveside service at her residence starting at 11:00 A.M. Central Time, with Pastor Derrick Gerber officiating.
Norma will be remembered for her warm spirit, her love of family, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
