Rebecca L. Nugent, age 71, of Port St. Joe, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. Born on March 10, 1954, in Welch, West Virginia, Becky moved to White City, Florida at a young age and remained a lifelong resident of Gulf County. A devoted wife, mother, nanny, and friend, she was a cherished member of her community, particularly known for her gentle spirit and compassionate nature.
Throughout her career, Becky worked as a clerk at local convenience stores, where she touched the lives of many with her kind demeanor and infectious smile.
Becky is remembered fondly for her love of animals; she had a kind heart that welcomed numerous strays into her home. Likewise, she opened her doors to many children, embodying a nurturing spirit that helped raise and support them throughout their lives. These acts of kindness and compassion defined her character and left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her philanthropic endeavors, Becky had a passion for fishing, often sharing this joy with family and friends. Her love for the outdoors and nature contributed to unforgettable memories, reinforcing the special bonds she held with her loved ones.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty-five years, Joe Nugent of Port St. Joe, Florida; one daughter, Reba Collinsworth and husband Lee of Port St. Joe, Florida; one son, Louis Lindsey (Donna Odom) of Highland View, Florida; one sister, Dorothy Nunnery and husband Harold of Wewahitchka, Florida; three grandchildren, Kayla Lindsey, Lyndsey Butler (Angel), and Brandon Heckenlively; and one great grandchild, Louis Lindsey III.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, James Terry and Elouise Toole Terry, as well as her siblings: Jack Terry, Jimmy Terry, Linda Knowles, Joann Terry, and Cathy Gainous.
Becky L. Nugent’s legacy of love, compassion, and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed but warmly remembered.
