Ron Alan Baumgardner “Burgundy” of White City, Florida, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Port St. Joe, Florida at the age of 60.
Ron was born on September 8, 1965, in Lancaster, Ohio. He spent his childhood in Naples, Florida, where he was raised. Later, he lived in Tallahassee, Florida, for several years, where his children were born. In 2005,
Ron moved to Gulf County to finish raising his children.Throughout his life, Ron had a bachelor's degree and worked in many different fields including Real Estate and information technology although his main career was in information technology. Despite his professional success, Ron was best known for his big heart and his love for helping people. Family was Ron's greatest pride and accomplishment.
Ron loved life and was known for having the best sense of humor. He was a great husband, daddy, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Some of Ron’s favorite pastimes included castnetting mullet, setting trotlines for catfish, and tinkering with things around him. He was also a very patriotic man who loved attending air shows and watching the Blue Angels perform. When he wasn’t outdoors, Ron enjoyed going to baseball and football games. Friends and family fondly remember his delicious cooking, especially his crawfish boils and fish fries.
Ron is survived by his wife of four and a half years, Christie Baumgardner of White City, Florida; his three children, Hunter Baumgardner and his wife Jeannie of Wewahitchka, Florida, Braden Baumgardner and Zoe Brown of Panama City, Florida, and Leanna Baumgardner and her husband Isaac Wockenfuss of Port St. Joe, Florida; along with their mother Selena Murphy. He also leaves behind five stepchildren: Nathanial Maestri of Ohio, Ilianna Maestri of Tallahassee, Florida, Christopher Maestri of Minnesota, Isabel Maestri of Gainesville, Florida, and Xavier Maestri of Alabama. Ron’s sister, Joyce Lowe and her husband Don, also survive him. He will be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren: Carter Baumgardner, Karsyn Baumgardner, and Malcolm Maestri-Woods.Ron was preceded in death by his parents,
William Oscar Baumgardner and Joan Lutz.Ron Alan Baumgardner’s kindness, humor, and love of life touched the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at two gatherings: a casual remembrance on Thursday, April 30th, at 4:30pm Eastern Time at High Five Dive Bar in Apalachicola, Florida and a celebration of life tentatively on Friday, May 8th at 4:30pm Eastern Time at the lighthouse pavilion in Port St. Joe.
