Ronald Oral Wilson, a lifelong resident of Apalachicola, Florida, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 74. He departed this world surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Born on October 13, 1950, in Apalachicola, Ronald spent his life dedicated to his passion for commercial fishing. He cherished every moment of his career, taking immense pride in captaining his boat through the beautiful waters he loved. Ronald was not only a skilled fisherman but also a known handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was raised up in the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and continued attending services throughout his life. His faith was an integral part of who he was, guiding him through both joyful times and challenges.
Ronald is survived by his beloved family, including one son, Chris Wilson and his wife Jennifer of Carrabelle, Florida; one daughter, Melissa Tanner and her husband Billy of Madison, Florida; two brothers, Charles Wilson and his wife Carolyn and Terry Tipton, both of Apalachicola, Florida; two sisters, Wanda Brannan of Carrabelle, Florida, and Deborah Ward of Wewahitchka, Florida; as well as eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Charles Wilson; mother, Wilma Faye Tipton; stepfather, Robert J. Tipton; wife, Aileen Wilson; daughter, Jennifer Bairefoot; one brother, Allan Tipton; and a great granddaughter, Caroline Wilson. Each of these individuals played a significant role in Ronald's life, and their memories will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Apalachicola, Florida, from 9:30 AM Eastern Time to 11:00 AM Eastern Time, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Robert Murray and Pastor Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola, Florida. Per Ronald's wishes, the family requests that everyone in attendance wear casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Ronald's impact on those around him will be deeply missed, and he will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love for family, and the immense joy he found in life.
