Susan Jane Williams passed away at Sacred Heart Bay Medical in Panama City on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born on March 14, 1950, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and spent most of her life in Gulf County.
Susan was known by everyone for her kind heart and big beautiful smile, steady dedication and strong work ethic. She worked for more than 30 years at the same store as it changed through three different owners, serving first at Early's Hardware, then Johnson's Lumber and Building Supply, and finally Bayside Lumber. Her long career reflected loyalty, perseverance, and a deep connection to the community she called home.
She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Susan enjoyed going boat riding with her husband, fishing, spending time at the beach, playing solitaire on her tablet, swinging on the swing with her grandchildren, her pets and her diet cokes. These everyday moments brought her happiness and were a meaningful part of the life she built with those she loved.
Most of all, Susan treasured her family. She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-two years, Charles Williams. She also leaves behind her children: Laurie Simon of Winter Haven, Florida; Christy Harriman (Mark) of Port St. Joe, Florida; Steve Arthur of Port St. Joe, Florida; Scott Arthur (Yukiko) of Japan; and step-children, Micah Andrews of Panama City, Florida; Wendy Williams of Macon, Georgia and Doug Williams of Port St. Joe, Florida. She is also survived by her brother, Steve Simon (Sara) of Ocala, Florida.
Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Mikey Arthur, Brittany Arthur, Hailey Burkett and her husband Ashton, and Breeze Harriman. Each of them was part of the family circle that brought Susan pride and love throughout her life.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Robert Eugene Simon; her mother, Elsie Jane Allen Simon; her brothers, Bob Simon and Jim Simon; and her sister, Judith Simon Hendricks.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time at Oak Grove Church in Port St. Joe, Florida. A private interment will be held at Holly Hill Cemetery.
