Teresa Diane King, lovingly known as Diane, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Greenville, Florida at the age of 59. Born on April 2, 1967, in Port St. Joe, Florida, Diane was a lifelong resident of Gulf County and a proud graduate of Port St. Joe High School. She was a woman of remarkable character, known for her straightforward and candid nature—she always spoke her mind, never leaving anyone to guess her true feelings or thoughts.
Diane dedicated many years to managing Red's Convenient Store in Apalachicola, Florida, where she met countless people and made many friends.
Beyond her career, Diane was a gifted cook who took great pleasure in preparing meals, sharing her culinary talents with family and friends. She had a passion for travel, often planning new adventures that fueled her zest for life. Yet, above all, her greatest joy was spending cherished time with her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Burrows and Ollie Langley Burrows, as well as her husband, Robert "Caveman" Wayne Hicks. She leaves behind a devoted family who will carry her memory in their hearts. Her three children, Timothy King of Highland View, Florida; Heather Estrada and her husband Juan of Tallahassee, Florida, and Brittany King and her husband George of Ocala, Florida; the father of her children, Tommy King of Highland View, Florida continue to honor her legacy. Diane was also a loving sister to Janet Dempster, Tommy Chavous, Jeannie Nix, and Tammy Burrows. Her five grandchildren—Tamina King, Nevaeh Johnson, Liam Estrada, Jaylen Jones, and Jayden Jones—were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM Eastern Time until 3:00 PM Eastern Time at Highland View Baptist Church in Port St. Joe, FL with Pastor Mac McMillan officiating.
