Emblem

Tommy was born May 11, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee. God took him home unexpectedly, but peacefully, on January 1, 2026. He was on “permanent vacation,” at home in Port St. Joe Beach, Florida, enjoying football, food, and conversation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Thomas R. Hunter, Sr. He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, his wife Connie Hunter; His children: Trey (Allison) Hunter, Shannon (Nathan) Hunter, and Ryan (Misty) Hunter; his brother: Bubba (Charlene) Hunter, seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Tommy was an engineer for CSX Railroad for 19 years, after which he started a private business venture with his wife, Connie. Life was full of adventure, travel, and hard work. Tommy took great pride in his home and yard. He loved planting seasonal flowers, hanging seasonal house flags, and keeping a green yard—especially showing his love for Tennessee football.

Tommy loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed when friends visited and treasured coastal living with them. He especially loved when his son Ryan and family, and his niece Heather and her family, spent time in Florida enjoying his home, the beach, shore fishing, and exploring the Forgotten Coast.

He loved his wife’s cooking, especially as she learned to prepare a variety of fish and coastal recipes. Tommy also enjoyed the fruits of gardening, canning, and freezing vegetables and fruits, often teasing Connie about planting a citrus farm.

The last five and a half years of his life were a true adventure, which he fully embraced with Connie by his side. Tommy will be deeply missed by many, especially his beloved wife Connie, but he is now with Jesus and his Heavenly Father, waiting to be reunited again when she is called home.
