Port St. Joe, Florida

Wanda J. Boals, a beloved member of the Port St. Joe and Tallahassee communities, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on June 28, 1965, in Tallahassee, Florida, Wanda grew up in nearby St. Marks and dedicated much of her life to the places she called home.

Wanda was a vibrant and enterprising spirit, best known for owning and operating the Crossway Cafe in Tallahassee. Her café was more than just a business; it was a gathering place where customers felt like cherished family members. About sixteen years ago, Wanda brought that same warmth and care to Port St. Joe, where she started her own cleaning business. Her clients quickly became more than just patrons; they were treated as part of her extended family, reflecting the heartfelt dedication she poured into her work.

A woman of many passions, Wanda found joy in tending to her garden and nurturing her plants. Her love for the outdoors was matched by her enthusiasm for riding motorcycles and listening to country music, which accompanied many of her journeys. She had a creative soul, deeply engaged in painting and arts and crafts, which allowed her to express her unique perspective and brighten the lives of those around her.

Wanda is survived by her devoted daughter, Amber Lorene (Shey), her loving son Dylan, and her cherished grandson, Colton Chason. She also leaves behind her favorite Grand Weiner Dog, Jessie, who was a constant companion and source of joy. These loved ones carry her memory forward with both pride and affection.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Nichols, and her sister, Cathy Jo Sherouse, whose memories Wanda held close to her heart throughout her life.

Wanda J. Boals lived with a generosity of spirit and a commitment to community that touched everyone she met. Her legacy of kindness, hard work, and creativity will remain a guiding light for her family and friends. She is remembered with great respect, deep gratitude, and enduring love by all who were fortunate to know her.
