Willie Mae Watson, a proud lifelong resident of Highland View, Florida, was born on November 25, 1939, in Gulf County, Florida. She left this world peacefully and with her loving family by her side to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 86
Willie Mae was a cherished daughter of Price Gay and Pauline Peters Gay, and the beloved wife of the late Frank Watson. Throughout her life, she was surrounded by family and friends who adored her. She was preceded in death by her dear sisters, Vennie Mae Byrd and Opal Floyd, as well as her brother, Ben Gay.
Her life was characterized by love for her family and deep devotion to her community. Willie Mae was particularly proud of the time she spent working at the Senior’s Center; she found fulfillment in visiting the elderly and sick, providing companionship and support to those in need.
Willie Mae was a vibrant spirit who relished traveling with her daughter Marie Watson Hand and husband Danny, exploring new places and making wonderful memories. Her love for traveling was rivaled only by her affection for her church family at New Beginnings Assembly of God in Highland View, where she enjoyed the fellowship and spiritual connection it provided.
Willie Mae is survived by her loving daughter Marie and her husband Danny Hand of Orlando, Florida, as well as her cherished grandson Daniel Hand, who carry her memory forward. The warmth of her spirit and the lessons of love and kindness she imparted will forever be treasured by her family and all those who had the honor of knowing her.
The visitation for Willie Mae is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern Time at Holly Hill Cemetery, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM Eastern Time in Port St. Joe, Florida with Pastor Adam White officiating. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, we remember a woman whose heart was as expansive as the sky, whose laughter will echo in our hearts, and whose legacy will live on in the love she so generously shared.
Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
