Winston R. Bellew

November 10, 1950 — December 11, 2025

Apalachicola, Florida

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Winston Bellew, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on Thursday, December 11, 2025 in Apalachicola, Franklin County, Florida. Winston, who was born on November 10, 1950, in Bristol, Liberty County, Florida, lived a life rich in love, community, and service.

Winston was the son of Wesley and Donnie Bellew, and he was preceded in death by his father, Wesley, along with his brothers Kenneth and John Bellew. He is survived by 3 Sisters, 4 Brothers and his devoted wife of 54 years, Alberta Bellew, along with their two cherished daughters, Donna (Gary) Mathes and Maria (Kurt) Pilger, who reside in Carrabelle, Florida.

Winston's legacy also lives on through his five grandchildren: Amber (Frank) Vana of Middleburg, FL; Darrell (Ellie) Dart of Crawfordville, FL; Michael (Kristen) Strops of Carrabelle, FL; Ashley (Troy) Suber of Wewahitchka, FL; and Brandy(Josh) Mcnicholas of Crawfordville, FL. He was a proud grandfather to ten great- grandchildren: Adam, Phillip, and Amelia Vana; Claire, Zander, Evee, and Richard Dart; and Logan, Mira, and Skyla Burdeshaw.

Winston's life was a tapestry woven with hard work and dedication. He worked as an oysterman and a trashman, and he found joy as a cowboy in Gulf County. His longest tenure was with the Franklin County Road Department, where he served with pride for 31 years. He was known for his reliability, his strong work ethic, and his genuine care for others in the community.

Everyone who knew Winston recognized him by his signature style: a cowboy hat, boots, jeans, and western shirts. He wore these with pride, embodying the spirit of a true gentleman. His gentle nature and warm smile reflected a deep love for God, his "baby doll" Alberta, and his family. Winston's heart was as big as his laugh; he touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.

Winston was a man who genuinely cherished his family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a story from his rich life experiences. He was not just a father but a role model, teaching his daughters the values of hard work, loyalty, and love for others. His pride in his family was evident, and he found great joy in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

As we remember Winston, we celebrate not just the years of his life but the love he cultivated within his family and the community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in our hearts and memories.

A celebration of Winston's life will be held on Dec 17th at 1pm at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love in his memory.

Rest in peace, Winston. Your cowboy hat may be hung up now, but your spirit will continue to ride with us forever.
